The cure for anxiety (4)
When you start worrying about the future, bring to mind what God has already brought you through. In situations you thought you wouldn’t survive, He caused you to thrive, right? Nothing can separate you from His love (see Romans 8:38-39). But your anxieties can rob you of the security His love brings. Are you the kind of person who wants to understand everything because it makes you feel in control?
Are you tormented by your thoughts and constantly questioning your actions? Do you worry about what people might think before making decisions? Do you constantly question why God hasn’t answered your prayers? Do you worry whether you might be doing something wrong or that you don’t have enough faith? Do you allow your mind to ramble with negative thoughts that leave you exhausted? The good news is that this worry addiction can be broken with God’s help. It might not happen overnight.
Train yourself to keep a check on your thoughts, so when they start their mental gymnastics, rather than trying to figure things out yourself, hand it over to God and trust Him with your life. Today God wants to be your provider, your guide, your adviser, your protector, and your ‘all in all’.
So stand on His Word, which says, ‘You have been a strength … to the needy in his distress.’ (Isaiah 25:4 NKJV)
