Wouldn’t it be nice if having a relationship with God meant we never have to worry or stress about money again? Well… actually, that is possible.
Not because God fills our bank accounts supernaturally with money whenever we need it (though we have heard stories about that), rather, when we align the posture of our hearts with the fact that:
- God IS OUR SOURCE and
- HE HAS HIS WAY to do finances.
In the Bible, God lays out basic principles about how we are to manage our money. Jesus talked about money in 16 of His 38 parables. In these parables, He discussed how to handle both our money and our possessions. In the four Gospels, 1 out of every 10 verses directly relates to money or possessions. It’s like God has something to say about handling finances.
Proverbs 3:9-10
Honour the Lord with your possessions and with the first fruits of all your increase; so your barns will be filled with plenty, and your vats will overflow with new wine.
Acts 20:35
I have shown you in every way, by labouring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘It is more blessed to give than to receive.’
God always has our best interests at heart, therefore, what He instructs us to do with our finances; we must both TRUST and DO.
3 simple questions for you to think about…
- What are you sowing?
- What are you saving?
- What are you spending?
Have a conversation about your finances with Him. You might find that a Godly adjustment can really help.
